TABLING OPPORTUNITIES: Come join our GET OUT THE VOTE activities.
We show up where voters already are, fairs, farmers markets, community festivals, to register people to vote and answer questions about how elections work. No experience necessary. You'll work alongside someone who's tabled before, and every conversation you have helps make sure more of our neighbors are ready to vote this fall. It's a lot of fun too.
Contact Connie Foster at voteroutreach@lwvskc.org or 206-427-8309 to join the team for a shift.

Oct 3 Sat | 11:00am - 6:00pm | Four 2-hour Shifts | 3 Volunteers Needed For Each

University Way NE
The U District Partnership invited LWVSKC back for this popular community event. Following our successful 2025 participation, we are looking for volunteers to fill two-hour shifts between 11:00am and 8:00pm. Last year, ten volunteers and partners from Delta Sigma Theta helped staff our table throughout the day.

ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Join the Voter Registration Team at Naturalization Ceremonies
USCIS, a win for voting rights and for LWV, who filed suit to protect this process.. LWVSKC designates volunteers for this work as the schedule comes together each month. When an opportunity comes up, you'll be paired with an LWVSKC volunteer who already does this work to learn the process at USCIS. Interested in joining the team? Send your name to Barb Tengtio at btengtio@lwvskc.org.

Share This: A National Voting Enthusiasm Campaign Kicks Off
A coalition of voting rights groups, including the League of Women Voters, launched We Are America, And We Vote, a video campaign built around joyful determination and collective voter power. It's landing just weeks ahead of the final stretch to Election Day.
Watch it, share it, and help build momentum going into November.

Know Your Options: Vote-by-Mail Rules May Change During Ongoing Litigation
Legal challenges to new federal mail voting requirements are moving through the courts, and rules could shift before November. Washington voters should still make a plan now: check VOTE411.org or the WA Secretary of State for current deadlines, return your ballot early using a King County drop box when you can, and contact King County Elections if your ballot hasn't arrived by October 18. Follow this fast-moving issue at the LWV Newsroom.

DOE Shoreline Master Program Guidelines
Comment period: September 2 – November 17
The Department of Ecology's proposed Shoreline Master Program guidelines are open for public comment. These are binding rules that King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap Counties must comply with by 2029, and LWVWA is encouraging members to weigh in.

New League Position: Protecting the Rights of Immigrants
The National League adopted a new position on protecting immigrant rights, based on a study by LWVWA. Read the full statement, which supports the League in demanding due process for people in ICE custody.
The timing matters locally: ICE has sharply increased transfers and arrests in Washington in recent months, with roughly 700 arrests in June and July alone.
Read more from the Seattle Times, and learn about local support work at WAISN.

Appeals Court Blocks Reinstatement of SAVE Voter Database for Purges
A federal appeals court declined to pause a lower court ruling that blocks an expanded use of the SAVE database (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) for voter list maintenance. The ruling means the database cannot be used for mass voter purges ahead of the midterm elections. Read more from the LWV Newsroom.

Health Care Affordability Crisis: Reforms We Needed Yesterday
Sep 16 Wed | Virtual | 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Register to attend. Can't make it live? Register anyway and we'll send the recording.
Healthcare costs keep climbing, family premiums jumped 9% in 2025 to nearly $27,000 a year, and Americans still live shorter lives than people in most other wealthy nations. This program digs into what's driving those costs and looks at the policy reforms different advocates are proposing. Sponsored by LWV Roselle-Bloomingdale Area.

Carrying a Torch for Democracy
On September 5th, LWVSKC had a table at a Des Moines area rally sponsored by Seniors for the Constitution and Des Moines Indivisible, at which we distributed LWV information and encouraged voter registration. Thank you to Vicci Rudin and Emilie Hitchens, along with some members of the Lady Liberty group!
