Comment: Tell the Census Bureau to Roll Back Its Proposed Rule
Comment deadline: Nov 02 Mon
The Census Bureau has proposed a rule that would change who gets counted in the census, including counting only citizens and green card holders and ending the collection of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity data. The League believes the rule is unconstitutional and would distort population counts used for representation and public services. Add your voice and ask the Census Bureau to roll back the rule and extend the comment period to December 10. Submit your comment.

Thank You, Allison, for Your Years of Service to the League
A big thank you to Allison Feher for all her years of service to LWVSKC. Members turned out in force for the recent happy hour in her honor, and the cards and kind words said it all. It's always fun to get League members together, and this was a great reason to do it.
A Great Day at LUSH
A huge thank you to Ann Roux and Katie Pratt for volunteering at the Bellevue Square LUSH store on Sep 26. Plenty of shoppers stopped at the League table to pick up a Track Your Ballot card. One new voter got registered, and a future League member walked away with an LWVSKC business card.

Parishioners Applaud Voter Registration at St. James Cathedral
When Connie Foster, Sandy Bergin, and Martha Cohen set up a voter registration table at St. James Cathedral, the community welcomed them with applause, twice. Patrick Barredo, the cathedral's Director of Social Outreach and Advocacy, recognized the team at Mass and the parishioners clapped. Father Michael Ryan, Pastor Emeritus, urged the congregation to vote in his sermon, and they cheered again. Both stopped by the table afterward to say thank you.

Thank You, Brena Gattuccio, for Bringing the League Look Forward
A huge thank you to Brena Gattuccio for the graphic design work she's brought to LWVSKC, moving our image forward, updated, current, simple, and more accessible. It's a great example of volunteers making a difference doing what they love. Her latest bright spot: partnering with the Voter Services team to bring polish and professionalism to the Candidate Interview videos.
Look for more to come from your Communications Committee.
Brena Gattuccio, Mary Jha, Colleen Kim, Jessica Wang, and Chair Charmel Bowden. So much more to do. Let us know if you’d like to join the team. Contact Charmel at 2ndVP@lwvskc.org
.

Thank You, LWVSKC Speakers!
Barb Tengtio represented the LWVSKC at a recent North Seattle community gathering as their guest speaker providing an overview of the League and leading four separate small discussion groups on civic engagement. And on October 1st, Deb Carstens spoke to Phinneywood Rising (a group within Communities Rising) on election security and misinformation.
