RESEARCH YOUR BALLOT

No single resource tells the whole story. Compare information from several trusted sources before making your choices.

  • Read your official voters' pamphlet to review candidate statements and learn what a “yes” or “no” vote means for each ballot measure.
  • Watch candidate forums and interviews to hear candidates discuss their priorities in their own words.
  • Review credible news coverage for reporting about candidates, issues, endorsements and campaign developments.
  • Look beyond campaign materials. Consider candidates’ experience, public record, voting history and campaign funding.
  • Review candidate endorsements. Consider who supports each candidate and whether those endorsers’ priorities and values align with yours. Endorsements are often listed on candidates’ campaign websites.
  • Talk with people and organizations you trust, especially those with direct knowledge of the office, community or issue.

WASHINGTON VOTERS MAY PARTICIPATE IN SEVERAL TYPES OF ELECTIONS
General election
Primary Elections
Special Election
Presidential primary

Nonpartisan races with two or fewer candidates generally skip the primary and proceed directly to the general election.

King Conservation District Board elections are held separately from the regular Washington ballot. Voting generally takes place early in the year through an online ballot-access system, with physical-ballot options available. Eligibility depends on where you live within the district.

Beginning in August 2027, Seattle will use ranked-choice voting in primary elections for Seattle city offices. It will still determine the two candidates advancing to the November general election.
